Location: Saint John of God Carmona Services, Dunmore House, 111 Upper Glengeary Road, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin & Saint John of God Kildare Services, Celbridge, Co Kildare.

Locum Consultant Psychiatrist (6 months, 37 hours per week)

Applications are invited for the above post of Locum Consultant Psychiatrist with a Special Interest in the Psychiatry of Learning Disability for a period of 6 months. The following professional qualifications and experience shall apply to this position:

Registration on the Specialist Division (Psychiatry) of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Irish Medical Council; and•

Possession of the MRCPsych, or equivalent thereto; and

Seven years satisfactory postgraduate training and experience in the medical professional including five years in psychiatry of which three years were in general adult psychiatry;•

Preferably registration as a Specialist in the Psychiatry of Learning Disability on the Specialist Division (Psychiatry) of the Register of Medical Practitioners but at a minimum to demonstrate experience of working in the Psychiatry of Learning Disability;

Possession of a high standard of professional attainment and the requisite knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the post;

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Provide support to top management as a business partner in all medical aspects and participate in the affiliate’s management committee

  • Preparation and implementation of the medical budget and medical product plans

  • Keep up to date on current legislation, scientific information, ethical issues etc and review of co-promotion/co-licensing agreements to ensure medical affairs capabilities, resource and systems in place

  • Full responsibility for pharmacovigilance and regulatory affairs

  • Management of medical queries

  • Maintenance of bibliographical database for relevant clinical papers, presentations, as appropriate, at Sales Meetings, Focus Group Meetings, Local Conferences etc

  • Review all marketing material intended for public use for compliance

  • Writing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and audit of the functioning of the QMS

 

Personal requirements:

 

  • University degree in Medical Sciences

  • At least 5 to 8 years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry including knowledge and experience of Regulatory and Pharmacovigilance responsibilities of an MAH in Ireland

  • Cross-cultural competencies and excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • An ability to motivate and develop others and oneself

  • An ambitious and self-driven team player, open minded, innovative, flexible and proactive
