Global healthcare company Abbott will host a series of meetings for GPs for World Aids Day on December 1st entitled ‘Let’s talk HIV! 30 years on – from acute illness to chronic disease’.
The three meetings will take place at 7.00pm on Wednesday, November 30th in Dublin; Tuesday, December 6th in Cork; and Thursday, December 8th in Galway.
Speakers at these meetings will include Dr Jack Lambert, Infectious Disease Consultant at the Mater Hospital, Dublin; Dr Dominic Rowley, GP and SpR in Genito-Urinary Medicine, St James’s Hospital; Dr Catherine Fleming, Infectious Disease Consultant, University College Hospital Galway; and Professor Mary Horgan, Cork University Hospital.
The meetings will cover the practical issues of diagnosis and treatment of HIV patients in primary care and address communication between primary and secondary care services. They will further provide GPs with in-depth information on current HIV issues on topics such as epidemiology and the identification of undiagnosed patients. CPD accreditation has been applied for.
