Consultant Cardiologist with Specialist Interest in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) are seeking to appoint a Consultant Cardiologist with special expertise in coronary intervention (PCI) including Primary PCI. This is to replace an existing post holder following an unexpected resignation. (The initial contract is 10PA). There are currently 10.5 WTE cardiologists at NNUH of which 6 are coronary interventionists. This post helps provide a 1:6, 24/7 cover for primary PCI for a catchment area of about 1 million population. It is part of an approach to cardiological care encompassing Norfolk and Great Yarmouth and Waveney. The appointment is to NNUH where the post holder spends 3 days comprising elective/unstable PCI (2 lists), PPCI, angiography (1 list), research, MDT, teaching. Clinics and CCU ward round /cardiological opinions are undertaken at James Paget University Foundation Hospital Trust (JPUH) on 2 days. There is a 1:6 weekend on call commitment at NNUH (PPCI) and 4/6 weekday PPCI on call with EPCI list on Friday afternoon of on call weekend. Dr Alisdair Ryding, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist undertakes a mirror image post to this one. Based on year to date activity the projected figures are 1500 PCI (550 PPCI) and 2264 diagnostic angiograms. NNUH is a regional pacing (417 new in 2009) and device centre (ICD (36) and CRT (34D & 22P) and provides a large GUCH service. Weekly videoconference surgical MDT occurs with Papworth cardiothoracic surgeons. Imaging modalities include, IVUS, nuclear perfusion (MIBI), CT coronary angiography, cardiac MRI, stress echocardiography, 2D/3D echocardiography. The post holder will contribute to the teaching of undergraduate MBBS students at both sites as part of the UEA School of Medicine Health Policy and Practice under the leadership of Professor Roger Hall. Clinical training, education and supervision of junior doctors at NNUH and JPUH will be also required. There are 8 resident on-call SpRs at NNUH.

River. A regular daily flight service operates between Sydney and Narrandera. Narrandera Medical Centre seeks a procedural GP with Anaesthetic, Obstetric and/or Surgical skills. Work in a well established and respected accredited and computerised practice,with support fromother Obstetric/Anaesthetic GPs. Our modern hospital has 24 beds, a four bed maternity ward, and facilities for Surgery, an Accident and Emergency Department and hosts 100 deliveries annually. The Medical Centre currently accommodates six doctors and two full time nurses for triage, as well as visiting specialists and allied health. Funding by the Australian Government will assist construction of a GP Super Clinic commencing in 2010. The facility will add physiotherapy and dental services along with increased allied health and GP consulting. The practice has a strong teaching emphasis with a long history of GP Registrars, medical students and overseas trained doctors. A strong earning potential exists – AU$300,000 plus after practice administration expenses – and you can utilise your professional skills as part of a friendly, progressive and co-operative team.

This is a new shared post involving clinical sessions at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, King’s Lynn. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of ablative and reconstructive surgery in relation to Head and Neck Oncology. The post also involves the provision of general Oral Maxillofacial Services, the management of trauma and to contribute to the education of junior doctors and clinical governance. This new post reflects an expansion as a result of the rationalisation of services covering Norfolk and Suffolk. The resultant population for head and neck oncology has expanded to a population in excess of 1.5 million.
