We all know that abbreviations/acrononyms in medicine are dangerous and can lead to confusion. One doctor’s my­ocardial infarction (MI) is another’s  mitral incompetence (MI).

I wonder how many GP colleagues, like myself, are uncertain how to make best use of the limited amount of swine flu vaccine doses currently available, and would appreciate some clarification from the HSE?

Recently a medical student in our practice reflected a commonly held view by the public (and some members of the HSE) that there was not much involved in swine flu vaccination, a simple prick in the arm.

In the issue of IMN dated October 12,  2009 there is the suggestion [by HSE CEO Prof Brendan Drumm] that the budget could be helped by GPs tendering for custom.
