Rapid Access lung clinic launched at Blackrock clinic

A new service aimed at suspected lung cancer patients has been launched at the Blackrock Clinic, Dublin.
The new Rapid Access Lung Service is a collaboration of respiratory physicians, working with pathologists, radiologists, surgeons and oncologists as part of a multidisciplinary team which will provide a rapid diagnostic service and facilitate access to appropriate therapies.
Patients will be seen by a consultant respiratory physician within 24 hours of referral to the Service by their GP.
Commenting on the Service Chief Executive Mr Bryan Harty stated that the clinic has invested in diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy equipment to support the new service. “In addition a dedicated administrative support team will ensure the patient gets to the right doctor at the right time and also that the referring doctor is regularly updated and appraised of their patient’s progress.”
