ICGP - GP ACADEMIC FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME 2012
The Irish College of General Practitioners, the HSE, and the Association of University Departments of General Practice in Ireland (AUDGPI) invite proposals from
prospective candidates for the GP Academic Fellowship Programme 2012.
The aim of the Fellowship Programme is to support the professional development of
future leaders of academic general practice in the Irish health service.
It offers a structured two year programme of
1) research,
2) education and training, and
3) clinical practice,
all overseen by an academic department of general practice.
Eligibility Criteria to Apply
To apply for the Fellowship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Must be registered as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the speciality of general practice or hold such equivalent registration with an overseas regulatory body.
• Must be within three years of completing GP Specialist Training.
• Must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the post and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service
• Must be of good character.
• Must have their application supported by one of the named host university departments who will submit the joint application on their behalf.

The closing date for the receipt of initial proposals from host institutions is 22nd February, 2012.
The General Practice Academic Fellowship Programme 2012 is funded and sponsored by the HSE and is being implemented in collaboration with the ICGP and AUDGPI.
