Absenteeism increased in 2011

The rate of absenteeism for the first 10 months of 2011 was higher than the full year figure for the previous year, according to new data from the HSE November
Performance Report.

 

The report shows that the year to date figure for October stood at 4.86 per cent compared to 4.7 per cent for 2010. However, the rate is below that seen in 2009 and 2008, which was 5.05 per cent, and 5.76 per cent, respectively.

The figure for October 2011 (4.98 per cent) was also an increase on the previous month (4.9 per cent).

Hospitals such as Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar; Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise; Ennis General Hospital; Limerick Maternity Hospital, University Hospital Limerick; Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore; and St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny were among the facilities with the highest rates of absenteeism, all at over six per cent.
