ICGP relaunches search for Director of Assessment

E-mail

The ICGP has launched a recruitment campaign for a Director of Assessment to oversee the MICGP – alternative route (AR) assessment process.

The College sought to fill the position and 13 others last September but recently relaunched its search for the Director of Assessment position.

The new position is being created to facilitate practising GPs that do not have formal GP training, access to the specialist division register and ICGP membership. Up to 250 doctors are believed to be in this category in Ireland.

They cannot hold a permanent GMS contract but are “performing valuable roles through temporary GMS contracts or private, sessional or locum general practice”, according to the ICGP.

The scheme will run for a five-year period only and will be specifically open to doctors currently working in Irish general practice who have significant general practice experience.

The Director of Assessment role will involve the management and development of the MICGP-AR process. Duties will include the development and piloting of assessment instruments, overseeing administrative systems and ensuring appropriate governance and quality assurance systems, according to the ICGP.

The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, February 24.
